Days 33-42 Long journeys home, always result in hellos and goodbyes.

We finally made it to Virginia for some family time.

Eli driving us around on Thanksgiving to grab crazy uncle miiiiike

Des and pops

Unfortunately I wasn't thinking to much about taking pictures so there is a lot not captured. We didn't take a single picture of Thanksgiving, or any of the many bodo's bagles I grabbed while there.
This is captain Jack sparrow, aka the dark lord.

He was a grown cat when I meet Mike and Julie in my teen years, and we bonded significantly over being the black sheep (we where grumpy teens).  This was taken a few hours before he left this world, he decided to stay with me in my bed for his final few days. I stayed up all night with him the night before this was taken, and we all knew his time was limited. I had moved him to a comfy, secluded, common area spot where everyone could say goodbye to him, and an hour later he slipped away with loved ones around him to say goodbye. I tear up thinking about him and the trust he had in all of us at the end of his life.

Rest easy jack jack. You're very loved.

Last minute I made a Jack Jack remembrance ornament to leave with the fam. I trust someone will paint his black spot in for me.

Julie showed me how to make matzoh balls and soup stock. Yuummm

Video game nostalgia With the brother!

On the first day of hanukkah my true love gave to me, one Baruch atah Adonai, Elohenu Melech ha'olam

Hanukkah was lovely. It was a really chill time given all the chaos of New York we had just gone through.
We watched (almost) all the Harry Potter movies for the first time in my life! I drew the line at 15 hours of potter.
Little porch fire one night.

Elliott took me to Monticello for the first time!

Where apparently they liked there alcohol and ice cream.

Oh yeah, and cured meats.

I enjoy the beeswax paper covering all the jars as lids.

Poo boy.

We finally snagged a family photo together!
First one In a decade. Featuring luie boy the demon eyed.

I miss this face.  I miss this funny, hard working, weirdo who's taking time to figure out his values and priorities.

And just like that two weeks came and went.
I definitely cried the entire way out from Virginia.
